These false iPhone 13 rumors just go to show that you can never be too sure what Apple plans to release, no matter what the leakers predict.

Every year Apple releases a brand new iPhone with a few upgrades. And every year, before the new iPhone is revealed, rumors and leaks amass like crazy, raising our expectations to a new high. This year was no exception with the iPhone 13 release, but many of the rumors that people thought would come true just didn't happen.
Here are five popular iPhone 13 rumors that were totally wrong.
1. The Return of Touch ID
One of the craziest rumors what that Apple would finally bring back Touch ID to the iPhone 13, but in a different way. Rumors predicted that Apple would add an in-display fingerprint sensor that was supposed to be the next generation of Touch ID.
Unfortunately, Apple didn't take the leap this year. The iPhone 13 lineup still features good old Face ID with no fingerprint reader. The good news is that you can always unlock your iPhone with an Apple Watch, which is a nice plus if your face is covered.
2. The First-Ever Portless iPhone
Even before the iPhone 12 came out, many rumors predicted that Apple would finally reveal the first iPhone with no Lightning port. But according to the rumors, instead of using a USB-C port—like every other modern device available—Apple would do the unthinkable and make the first iPhone with no ports.
After Apple revealed MagSafe for the iPhone, everyone thought a portless iPhone 13 was actually possible. The good—or bad— news is that Apple didn't release an iPhone with no ports yet. There are still rumors of Apple working on it, but we'll still have to wait at least another year.

3. Always-On Display
Many of us are still sad that we didn't see this rumor become a reality. Certain leaks said that Apple would finally add an always-on display to the iPhone 13 models. Since many other smartphones and devices already have this feature, including the Apple Watch, it seemed like this rumor was entirely possible.
But iPhone fans were disappointed to see that one of the most awaited features was just a rumor. Apple didn't add an always-on display this time around. It did, however, add ProMotion to the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. It's not the same, but it's still a nice screen addition.

4. Faster Connectivity With Wi-Fi 6E
The future of Wi-Fi is Wi-Fi 6E. It's a way for routers and devices to access a new 6GHz band for a faster connection. As of right now, not every device supports Wi-Fi 6E, not even the iPhone. But many rumors said that Apple would add Wi-Fi 6E support to the iPhone 13.

In 2020, Apple spent a lot of time focusing on 5G, so it made sense that the next step would be Wi-Fi 6E. Even with that logic, Apple decided to skip Wi-Fi 6E this year. Apple's well known for not trying to be the first but trying to be the best. So the company may keep working to make Wi-Fi 6E as good as possible on the iPhone before releasing it.
5. Satellite Connection
One of the newest rumors we heard before the iPhone 13 launch was that this year's iPhone would feature a new satellite connection. This way, you'd be able to make emergency calls from anywhere even if you didn't have any cellular coverage.
Not every famous leaker was sure about this rumor, and they were right to be. The iPhone 13 didn't come with any type of satellite connectivity, so you'll still have to rely on your cellular coverage.
The Future of the iPhone
Let this be a lesson that you should always take rumors with a grain of salt. It doesn't matter who has the latest leaks; if it's not Apple, things may always change in the future. With that said, we already know a few things that would supposedly come to the iPhone 14. Though we'll have to wait and see which rumors are actually correct.
